Common Problems in Commercial Kitchens and How to Avoid Them

As you venture into the world of commercial kitchens, you may be both excited and afraid at the same time. The steps in the right direction are often accompanied by fears and worries, as so much can go wrong, but because so much can go right, we at BLT kitchens have presented this guide to common problems you may be worried about and how you can safely avoid them! The next step is always the scariest, but we will always be here right by your side, helping you face them all head on.

Equipment Failure

It happens. Right before your biggest wedding, presentation, meeting with consultants, the stove decides it doesn’t want to work for you or the freezer starts to appear more than a few shades to warm. When working at home, there really isn’t much you can do except reschedule, borrow a friend’s kitchen, or climb into bed and pull the covers over your head. In our BLT Kitchens commercial kitchens, however, we provide the maintenance to ensure this doesn’t happen, but if some freak accident does occur during your scheduled time, there are other appliances you can use in their stead!

Not Enough Time

We all understand there are simply not enough hours in the day, and the time-consuming tasks of food prep make it even worse! There are ways, however, to lessen those tasks, giving you more time for the important stuff. Set out all the ingredients you need at first, putting each item away as you use it, do your chopping, dicing, and cutting ahead of time, so when it comes time to make the dish, you just dump and stir. Schedule your kitchen time for hours where you aren’t as likely to run into a friend and start chatting instead of cooking. These are just a few for instances, but we have lots more time saving cuts if you are interested—just ask!

Managing Employees

Now that you have more clients, more income, and the additional space you need to meet the demands of your business, you may have also decided that it is time to hire on some help. Being a boss can be scary, but there are plenty of people surrounding you that have been in your shoes, providing a lifeline of advice, tips, and hints that will make you the best boss ever!
